He does not support unvented attics. Vented attics have less mold than non-vented attics. The Code allows both options, vented and un-vented attics. The criteria for the un-vented attic is Florida Statutes mandate which is based on the criteria as depicted in the 2006 International Residential Code.

13-607.1.ABC.1

13-608.1.ABC.1

We concur that the FSEC suggestions help to clarify the existing code so that contractors and code officials can better apply the requirements. However, as a result of a (A) detailed review of the proposed modifications and the (B) underlying, currently adopted code, ACCA finds that additional modifications are necessary to ensure that the revised code sections are not misinterpreted. Comment was provided to proponent of modification 1792, Rob Vieira, who added the language and concurred. See staff comment.

Recommend approval of the language stated under staff comment as a resolution to this concern.

To remove (valley lining exposed) from item 1 and (valley covered with shingles) from item 3 to make this section consistent with the code change to R905.2.8.2 of the Residential Volume.

1434

The proponent's concern is about mod 1434 which proposes to eliminate ASME A17.4 Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators.

The proposed mod 1434 was not approved by the Commission therefore the issue in question is resolved.

Greg Cahanin

ASME A 17.1

Section 2.11.6.3 needs to be changed. The 2005 Addenda to ASME A 17.1 section 2.11.6.3 states “egress from the interior of the car to elevator landing by means of the car and hoistway doors shall be unrestricted once the car and the hoistway doors are open.” The proponent is of the opinion should not apply to landings or lobby areas. Without this change the code official is left to decide whether to allow the additional door provision or exclude it based upon the ASME A17.1 provision

Bill Snyder

1435

3002.8

The proponent is concerned about mod 1435 which eliminates the installation of the fire alarm initiating devices at enclosed landings.
