ACCESSIBLITY TAC

December 5, 2006

The TAC convened at 1:00 with a quorum. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and the agenda set.

Review report of Training Development Workgroup. 13 slides in the course program were reviewed and the TAC approved further modifications to be incorporated in the final product. A sub-working committee of Larry Schneider and Bill Norkunas was appointed to prepare the final product for review at the February meeting. Additional photographs will be submitted for incorporation into the course update before submitting it to the Commission for approval.

Discussion Detectable Warnings on Curb Ramps . Federal DOT standards must be incorporated into the code by rule and the TAC will consider at the next meeting.

Discussion of Waiver Application. A workshop will be held to determine updates to the application including new policies on electronic submissions will take place in February.

Discussion of Differences between “Persons and Occupant Load” . It was the consensus of the TAC that calculations for occupant load in Chapter 10 should not be used to determine the number of persons in a given area referenced in Chapter. The number of persons is the actual number occupying or working in a specific area of a building.

Location of Detectable Warnings. A workshop to obtain input will take place at the next meeting including representatives from DOT as well as the Access Board.

Turning Space in Toilet Rooms. This will also be discussed in February in a workshop setting since an Access Board representative will be present.

The next agenda was set and the meeting adjourned at 3:05.
