ACCESSIBILITY TAC

August 21, 006

In addition to its monitoring of ongoing code issues, the TAC addressed two areas of concern that will require further work.

Hotel Charette: The TAC will conduct a charette to address design for existing hotel rooms as well as accessory facilities such as the accessible route, pools and other amenities. Staff will coordinate development of the charette structure including assembling the teams and more closely defining the charette parameters. The location is tentatively set for June, 2007.

Ramps/Curb Ramps: There may be an inconsistency in the language in the statute and Section 11-8.4.3 pertaining to the width of ramps. Legal and staff will research and report back at the next meeting

Interpretation: The TAC voted to request the Florida Building Commission revisit the prohibition against the TAC issuing binding interpretations.
