Don Shula's Hotel, Miami Lakes

River Town Boat House – The application was withdrawn at the request of the applicant.

American Heritage School – The application dealt with vertical accessibility to a pressbox above a bleacher seating system. The bleachers were originally permitted without the pressbox, which will house five or fewer persons. The recommendation was to grant for the pressbox, however the Council expressed concern that wheelchair seating was provided in only one location rather than being dispersed.

Carlos Chiu – The application was for an 80 seat lecture hall at the University of Miami which is being built on four levels. All accessible seats were planned for the first level. The recommendation was to grant, provided one of the accessible seats is located to the second level on the fourth row.

Tallahassee Building Partnership – The application was for vertical accessibility to the second floor of an apartment building that is being converted to offices. The property is on the historic register and extensive work has previously been done to upgrade accessibility to the structure. The owner will occupy the second floor and rent the first. The recommendation was to grant, provided a conference room on the first floor would be available at all times by the second floor occupants and designated as such with appropriate signage.

City of Hialeah Fire Station 8 – The applicant requested a waiver from making toilet facilities used only by firefighters accessible. Accessible facilities are available on the first floor for visitors. The design is identical to two fire stations which were previously granted waivers. The recommendation was to grant provided staff and legal confirms the conditions are being replicated from a previous design, which used UFAS.

The King's Academy – The application was for vertical accessibility to a pressbox above bleachers that were located to their present site. The applicant stipulated three or fewer persons will use the pressbox at any given time and the recommendation was to grant.

Delano Hotel – The application was for an accessory building, the “bungalow” located on the same property as the hotel tower which is undergoing an alteration. No work is planned for the bungalow. The recommendation was to grant and was felt to be unnecessary.

320 Lincoln LLC – The application was for the mezzanine area of a nightclub. The mezzanine will be divided into two separate areas and are accessed independently. The larger of the two has toilet room access and a quiet lounge. The smaller mezzanine will only house a bar and is intended for overflow seating from the first floor. The recommendation was to grant for the smaller area and provide vertical accessibility to the north mezzanine.

The Plaza Theaters – The recommendation was to defer to allow the applicant additional time to revise the plans to increase wheelchair dispersement and reduce sight line angles.

Epic Theatre – The recommendation was to defer to allow the applicant additional time to revise the plans to increase wheelchair dispersement and reduce sight line angles.
