Commission Actions:

The Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Florida Building Commission:

Continue with the existing contract with ARA/University of Florida to conduct terrain effects studies for wind pressure design, but to modify the contract in order to not consider windborne debris. This study is for the 2006/2007 fiscal year existing contract in the amount of $250,000.00.

Fund a research project to develop insurance qualifying criteria for buildings built within 2500 feet of the coast after 2009. Further, the Committee recommends that the Commission establish a performance goal of developing criteria based on a 250 year storm event. To accomplish this, the Committee recommends that the Commission pursue the contracting necessary to contract with ARA/UF for fiscal year 2007/2008 in the amount of $250,000.00.
