Subject: October 2013 Product Approval POC

Mo,

I am requesting on behalf of FRSA to be added to the October 2013 Product Approval POC agenda to request a rule change. The FRSA would request that rule (61G20-3.015) equivalence of standards be open to approve the FRSA/TRI Florida High Wind Concrete and Clay Tile Installation Manual, Fifth Edition Roof Tile Manual to be an equivalent standard to the FRSA/TRI 07320 Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual, Fourth Edition.

The current FRSA/TRI 07320/8-05 Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual, Fourth Edition referenced in the 2010 Florida Building Code, Building and Residential Volumes include design tables that were developed using ASCE 7-02. The tables in the Fourth Edition are limited to Exposure Categories B and C.

The 2010 Florida Building Code was based on the updated ASCE 7-10 including changes that revised wind speed maps and requires the use of Exposure Category D where applicable.

The tables found in the FRSA/TRI Florida High Wind Concrete and Clay Tile Installation Manual, Fifth Edition were developed using ASCE 7-10 and include design pressures for Exposure Categories B, C, and D.

Regards,
