SCOPE OF WORK

Determine reasonable modifications of the Florida Building Code which will enhance and support existing Sea Level Rise solutions. To include the economic benefits of:

·         Strengthening the building code by requiring additional free board.

·         Extending requirements for floodplain development to areas outside of the Special Flood Hazard Areas.

·         Including smart meters, pre-wiring of buildings to accommodate future GHG-reducing retrofits such as solar hot water heaters, photovoltaic (PV) panels or other distributed renewable power sources on rooftops, and metered charging outlets in parking garages for electric vehicles for new construction and major renovations.

TECHNICAL APPROACH

Identify building code adaptation strategies by engaging subject area experts, code officials, trade groups and other stakeholders, including an analysis of associated benefits.

PROJECT COST

$45,000.00

We look forward to working with you and the Commission in this effort, and in successful funding of this research project.
