Subject: Opening Rule 9B-72 (or9N-3)

Hi Mo-

I see on the Product Approval POC that the new (or re-numbered) Rule 9N-03 is being opened to implement parts of the Building Code Bill.

Would it be possible to make any other minor amendments at this time?

We would like to propose that one or two new subcategories be added.

We have had several problems lately finding a category for some of our products.

Under 9N-3.002 (31)(g), it lists the subcategories for Structural Components.

The subcategories that work for most of our products are “Wood Connectors” and “Anchors”.

However, we have some products that don’t fit there.

One group is our connectors for Cold Formed Steel.  These aren’t “Wood Connectors” because they do not fasten to wood, they fasten to steel.

We propose to add “Steel Connectors”,  or “Steel to Steel Connectors” as a subcategory.

Also, we are applying for a report for a new wood screw we have.  We also have steel to steel or wood to steel screws that we may want to submit.

We propose to add “Fasteners” as a new subcategory.

I would like to add these new subcategories because I really don’t think these can be considered “Products as a result of new technology”.

But if we have to apply and categorize them as “new technology”, then that is what we will do.

What do you think?
