TAC Members and Objectives

TAC Members Chairman James Batts, Jordan Clarkson, Bill Dumbaugh, Kevin Flanagan, John O’Connor, Mark Pabst, Bob, Vincent, John J. Whaler, Corky Williams.

TAC Members not Present: Thomas Allen, Gordan Shephardson.

Alternates Present: John J.C. Centera for Gordan Shephardson.

Ř Objectives: The purpose of this meeting was to accept public input and to provide recommendations on the proposed code changes for the 2017 5th Edition update to the Florida Building Code

 

Meeting Minutes

Objective

Discussion of objectives included the following: 

1)

 

8:00am -  Welcome and Opening, Roll Call.  A quorum was present.

Mr. Jeff Blair, facilitator, provided a brief overview of meeting protocol and procedures.

Motion and second to approve minutes from meeting of October 14, 2015 with no changes; unanimous approval vote.

2)

Discussion and recommendation on the proposed code changes to the 2017 5th Edition Florida Building Code:

Twenty-seven (27) proposed modifications for the 2017 5th Edition update to the Florida Building Code were considered. Each proposed modification was presented as follows:

-Proponent Presentation, -TAC Discussion, -TAC Vote on Recommendation

Results:

Of the 27 Proposed Modifications, Eight (8) were approved As Submitted, One (1) was approved As Modified, Eighteen (18) had No Affirmative Recommendation with a second, and Zero (0) were withdrawn. Local Amendments were reviewed for possible inclusion in the 2017 5th Edition Florida building Code, however, all were voted as No Affirmative Recommendation with a second.

3)

Discussion as to whether or not further discussion is necessary to finalize the study regarding minimizing electrocutions linked to swimming pools as directed by HB 535 – Dwight Wilkes made a motion to continue joint meetings for further discussion coming from a non-compensated TAC member.  The motion was seconded by David Rice and received unanimous vote of approval.
