Short Course Description This course is intended to introduce the key differences in the technical provisions in the 2007 Florida Building and Residential Codes. The State of Florida has updated the building code for construction, using the 2006 International Building Code as the base code with Florida-specific amendments. The purpose of this course is to identify specific changes that have occurred and discuss the reason for the change to the code. This course will cover provisions with special significance, including new and innovative design ideas and technologies, modern materials, and methods of construction, in addition to current approaches to fire safety, life safety, and structural stability. Changes that resulted from updating to the 2006 International Building Code in addition to the relevant Florida-specific amendments will be addressed.
