This is to let know that our office has received a total of 1061 code change proposals as part of the 7th Edition (2020) update process to the Florida Building Code (FBC).  The proposed changes consist of changes to the 6th Edition (2017) FBC and changes to the 2018 International Codes (I-Codes) changes as approved by the Commission last October.  According to the Commission plan, all of the Technical Advisory Committees (TACs), will meet during this month to review the code change proposals and local technical amendments as applicable and provide recommendations for consideration by the Commission.

For the TACs meetings schedule and locations, please see the “TAC Meeting Schedule” as available from the link below.  In addition, a list of mods that will be considered by "more than one TAC" and the “TAC Code Modification Review and Recommendation Process is now available from the link below.

Tracking Charts and Detail reports (with comments from the 1st 45-day comment period which ended February 18th) with linked downloadable files containing the proposed code changes to be considered at each TAC meeting are now also available from the following link:
 http://www.floridabuilding.org/fbc/thecode/2020_Code_Development/2020_Code_Development_Process.htm

Please download the updated files of choice and review modifications of interest before the meeting to familiarize yourself with the issues.  Also, please be advised that no hard copy or CD will be sent to you before the meeting.
The electronic updated detail reports will be used at the TAC meetings to follow TAC action on the proposed code changes.  Although the detail reports will be projected onto a screen for general viewing, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop and extension cords as it may be hard to read the projected text in a large room.  Electronic files of the detail reports will be available at the meetings for installation onto participants’ laptops.  No hard copy will be available at the meetings.  However, you may print the proposed mods and the summary tracking chart from our web site and bring it with you to the meeting.
Finally, this is to let you know that  we will be holding a webinar/ conference call / Chat session at 2 pm on March 7 to go over the process for reviewing the reports (Detailed Reports and Tracking Charts) published on proposed code modifications to the 7th Edition (20) update to the Florida Building Code (FBC).
This is to give everyone the opportunity to address any issues you may be having in any of the steps of proposed code modification and any questions regarding the code modification module including “The TAC Modification Review and Recommendation process”.
We will address all of your concerns so bring your questions!
